Attracting Positivity
I was in the middle of a process, impatiently awaiting a breakthrough, trying to work something out in my head. The struggle was internal, a mental blockage. Each day I spent time – some days more, some days less – trying to move forward. In a lull spot in life, I had no idea what I wanted to do about it. At this point the possibilities were endless, but I still could not pinpoint what it was.
The day-to-day life included deep kabbalistic meditations and inner reflection, and journaling. My inner voice was becoming louder. I was almost there. It was in this time period that I joined an energetic seminar for sanctuary and abundance. It is true, like does in fact attract like. I could feel the energy within me expanding. It was from this continuous effort the seeds were planted that would give rise to, and manifest this blog.
Open to See
Early in the seminar we were given a homework question. It was to post a description of your personal sanctuary. Sounds easy, right? Just explain what it looks like, what is in in, how does it feel? I began looking around… Wow! I did not have one. The kids each have their own room, there is a guys room in our house, but not one for me. While I have parts of me in each of the common areas, the truth was now visible – I had no personal space. I move around the house to wherever is not being occupied to have me time. I finally understood a big part of my struggles.
“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
– Wayne Dyer
Thinking real hard, I gave my answer honestly. My sanctuary was actually my backpack. I take it everywhere; work, home, vacation. This bag I tote around contains everything me. Digging inside you will find: my laptop and power block, water and snacks, charms and coins, crystals, a notebook, the book of the day, and even a battery operated candle, because you never know.
Taking Notes
My true sanctuary is within me. Wherever I am, I call home. I moved around a lot, so it became a lifestyle. Seeking out private time involved walks in nature, roaming my own land, and driving with the windows down with no destination. I understood clearly now, that I have been backpacking my way through life. Wandering with curiosity, all the while, really seeking a place to call mine.
Then it hit me, many, many months later – epiphany out of nowhere. How could it have been so easy, and yet I could not see? All along I was seeking something, when I simply needed to create it. It is hard to collect your thoughts, as I have come to realize, when you do not have that place to find sanctuary, that place to just be.
Creating Space

This new revelation came from a small mundane task. A chore I enjoy, but a simple chore nonetheless. I have been preparing for spring to finally arrive, and after having re-potted my houseplants I can relate to them so much more. As they outgrew their small spaces and needed change, I too needed that.
To further grow, expand and share of ourselves we sometimes need to be uprooted. Just like my growing plants, I need to relocate in order to bloom. It is time to elevate my mindset to move onto grander things. I have outgrown my backpack and it is time to create a place that is just for me. A sacred space to think, to create, to be me.
